first road trip
This happened to be my first "out of town" show ever, making the 18+ hour, 1300 mile two-day trip from Denver with my good buddy and very experienced head Randy (Rabbi). We arrived at the hotel Friday morning to take a nap and when we got to the facility that afternoon there was some delay getting in as people were "backed-up" at the entry. As we arrived at our general admission lawn seats they were playing "Alabama Getaway", the first time I had ever heard the song live, very cool.
The "New Speedway Boogie" to start the second set, into McCartney's "That Would Be Something", were both very cool and neither tune I had heard done before. Mickey's pals, the Monks, who did their "chanting" between Drums and Space was also very cool as I'm not sure anyone was aware before hand that this was happening. The "Lucy in the Sky with Diamonds" encore was a perfect way to end the evening.
